NHRC, OHCHR sign agreement

KATHMANDU, Feb 21: The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) and the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) have signed an agreement for cooperation and collaboration for promoting and protecting human rights in Nepal.



According to the agreement signed on Friday, OHCHR, the UN human rights body, will provide technical and advisory services to the national human rights watchdog to strengthen the later⦡mp;euro;?s capacity.



Similarly, the UN human rights body which was established in Nepal in 2005 will also provide support to NHRC to train human resources and law enforcement and judicial officials, according to the agreement.



A statement from OHCHR said that Bishal Khanal, NHRC secretary, and Richard Bennette, chief of OHCHR in Nepal, signed the agreement.
