KATHMANDU, Dec 3: A member of the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has raised objections to the confirmation of the appointment of Acting Secretary Murari Prasad Kharel.
NHRC member Mihir Thakur voiced his opposition, asserting that Acting Secretary Kharel had failed to take any action despite a written complaint filed by an office assistant against account officer Jitendra Karki for sexual harassment.
Thakur alleged that instead of addressing the issue with Karki, he was appointed as the president of a club within the commission by the employees. He further mentioned rumors circulating about employees turning against him, with concerns that he might face physical attacks.
In a Facebook status, Thakur stated, "The employees of my secretariat are being forced not to follow my instructions. I understand their difficulties. Since yesterday, I have had to arrange the necessary manpower (an officer, a driver, and an office assistant) for the work of my secretariat."
