NHRC demands stringent action against those committing Kailali crime

KATHMANDU, Mar 11: The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has demanded stringent action against to those involved in the beating of Radha Chaudhari of Kailali district in the name of practicing witchcraft.

KATHMANDU, Mar 11: The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has demanded stringent action against to those involved in the beating of Radha Chaudhari of Kailali district in the name of practicing witchcraft. 


Radha Chaudhari from Ghodaghodi municipality-5 of Kailali district was mercilessly beaten up in the public with the accusation of practicing witchcraft. 


Issuing a press release on Sunday, NHRC Spokesperson Mohna Ansari said NHRC's attention was drawn seriously towards the incident that 18-year old girl was beaten up. The government must immediately take action against those involved in this cruel, heinous and detestable act.

The NHRC has met with Chaudhari, reaching the Dhangadhi-based Seti Zonal Hospital, where she has been receiving treatment. The NHRC also gathered information by conducting a monitoring in the place of the incident.


According to the NHRC monitoring, Chaudhari's condition is improving. But the perpetrators were threatening her family repeatedly to deter them from complaining anywhere about the incident. 


The NHRC has urged the local police offices to ensure security and safety of the Chaudhari's family and bring to book those involved in the crime. 


The constitution has prohibited the oppression and exploitation. 


Meanwhile, the Human Rights and Peace Society has demanded tough action against those involved in the heinous crime- beating of teenager Radha Chaudhari- in Kailali district. 

Issuing a press statement, the Society said such disgusting act has disgraced all Nepalis. RSS
