KATHMANDU, July 15 : Nepal Foreign Trade Association has hailed the full-fledged budget for the fiscal year 2013/14, saying that it aims to promote the sector.

Issuing a press statement on Monday, the association has said that the rising the threshold for income tax waiver, immediate termination of the check posts at Dhulikhel and Thankot, widening the tax net, establishing an exihibition centre in Chovar, and other investment promotion objectives are some of the positive steps. Likewise, the concepts of "excellence" and "felicitation" of the large-scale investors has encouraged the private sector, the release added.

The Association has, however, expressed disappointed over the government´s decision not to incorporate some of their inputs. “The budget is mute when it comes to mitigation of malpractices of the revenue system and endorsing dual VAT for checking illegal transactions,” said Sunil Kumar Bansal, general-secretary of the Association in the press release.
