KATHMANDU, April 5: Nexus Cricket Academy (NCA) is organizing the Nexus Cup 2073 U-16 T20 National Cricket Tournament from Wednesday. A total of 392 players of 28 teams from all around the country are taking part in the tournament to be held in four different venues of the Kathmandu Valley.
Speaking at a press meet in the capital on Wednesday, NCA’s President Bharat Kumar Shahi informed that the tournament will be held in league-cum-knockout format and will be played at the TU Cricket Ground, Laboratory School’s cricket ground and Budhanilkantha School’s A and B cricket grounds.

According to Shahi, 12 teams from Kathmandu, three from Bhairahawa and two from Jhapa are participating in the tournament. Similarly, one each team from Kalikot, Kailali, Dang, Syangja, Chitwan, Bhaktapur, Nuwakot, Bara, Kavre, Mahendranagar and Banke will also take part in the competition.
The participating teams are divided into four groups with each group consisting of seven teams. Each team will have to play six matches in the league round and the top two teams from each group will advanced to the quarterfinals.
The champion of the tournament will bag a purse of Rs 150,000 while the runner-up will be given Rs 100,000.
Similarly, man-of-the-series and emerging player will be awarded with Rs 20,000 and Rs 15,000 respectively.
Likewise, the best bowler and best batsman of the tournament will be rewarded with Rs 10,000 each.
