Newly re-elected Mayor Renu Dahal announces free drinking water for Bharatpur folks from today

CHITWAN, May 25: The newly re-elected mayor of Bharatpur Metropolitan City in Chitwan district, Renu Dahal has taken two major decisions after assuming office for a second term- free drinking water up to 7,000 liters monthly per household and daughter insurance scheme worth Rs 100,000.

CHITWAN, May 25: The newly re-elected mayor of Bharatpur Metropolitan City in Chitwan district, Renu Dahal has taken two major decisions after assuming office for a second term- free drinking water up to 7,000 liters monthly per household and daughter insurance scheme worth Rs 100,000.


The new decisions will benefit around 42 per cent of Bharatpur folks in the city area with free drinking water supply from today while the remaining ones in the outskirts will also get it gradually.

The free drinking water scheme will cost the Metropolis over Rs 20.5 million annually, it is estimated. 


There are altogether 35,000 consumers associated with the drinking water user group in the metropolis. Similarly, the second decision taken by the newly-elected Mayor Dahal is providing an insurance scheme to girls born at public health facilities. 


In the first installment, the local government will provide Rs 1,750 and will dole out the amount up to Rs 100,000 within 15 years gradually on an annual installment basis. 


Stating that the priorities set by her in her first tenure were still unmet and accomplishing them along with new plans and programs in her second stint was her top priority, Dahal pledged to perform soliciting suggestions, advice and recommendations from all.
