Newly-appointed Pakistan Ambassador Hashmi presents credentials to President Paudel

KATHMANDU, June 12: Ambassador of Pakistan to Nepal, Abrar H Hashmi, presented his Letters of Credence as ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan to Nepal to President Ram Chandra Paudel during a special function organized at Shital Niwas on Monday.

During the presentation, Ambassador Hashmi conveyed greetings and best wishes from the President of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, Dr. Arif Alvi, the Prime Minister of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, and the people of Pakistan, for the personal health of the President of Nepal and the continued progress and prosperity of the friendly people of Nepal.

President Poudel welcomed and congratulated Ambassador Hashmi as the Ambassador of Pakistan to Nepal. He also mentioned the cordial and friendly relations that exist between the peoples of Pakistan and Nepal, and assured the full cooperation of the Government of Nepal to the Ambassador in the discharge of his duties in Nepal.

President Poudel asked the Ambassador to convey his greetings and best wishes to President Pakistan Dr. Alvi, the Prime Minister, and the people of Pakistan for their continued progress and prosperity.

Ambassador Hashmi expressed that the bilateral relationship between Pakistan and Nepal has always been cordial, based on goodwill, mutual trust, and cooperation. He further stated that both countries should revive bilateral mechanisms and high-level contacts. He mentioned that both countries were founding members of the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) and added that Nepal gives high importance to SAARC and is optimistic about reactivating the SAARC process, according to a press statement issued by the Embassy of Pakistan in Nepal.

Ambassador Hashmi also reiterated the invitation by the President of Pakistan to the President of Nepal to visit Pakistan at the earliest. He thanked the President of Pakistan for the kind invitation and stated that he would visit Pakistan at an appropriate time. He also invited the President of Pakistan to pay a visit to Nepal as well.

During the ceremony, the Foreign Minister, Chief of Army Staff, Principal Secretary to the President, Foreign Secretary, and other senior officials from the office of the President and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs were present.
