Newari, Tamang to be used as official languages in Bagmati Province

MAKAWANPUR, May 5: Minister for Culture, Tourism and Cooperative of Bagmati Province, Shailendra Man Bajracharya, has said that the province government would use the Newari and Tamang languages as the official languages.

MAKAWANPUR, May 5: Minister for Culture, Tourism and Cooperative of Bagmati Province, Shailendra Man Bajracharya, has said that the province government would use the Newari and Tamang languages as the official languages. 


He shared that the two languages would be brought into use as the official languages from May 6.

Briefly talking to the RSS, Bajracharya said an inaugural programme would be organized at 9:00 am on May 6 at Basantapur in Kathmandu to mark the beginning of the official business of the two languages in all government officials in the province.


He also shared that a rally with traditional costumes would walk past the major thoroughfares in the city starting at 7:00 am from Basantapur on the same day.


Likewise, the Bagmati Province Government has announced a public holiday on the day to celebrate the formal beginning of the official use of the Newari and Tamang languages.
