KATHMANDU, Feb 7: The newly-appointed General Secretary of the Federal Parliament, Padma Prasad Pandey, has taken the oath of office and secrecy.

Speaker Devraj Ghimire administered the oath to Pandey amidst a special ceremony held today at Lhotse Hall in New Baneshwar.

Pandey had resigned from the post of Secretary of the House of Representatives (HoR) on Tuesday before he was appointed as General Secretary of the federal parliament. President Paudel accepted his resignation and appointed him as the Secretary-General on Tuesday.

Earlier on December 11, Speaker Ghimire and National Assembly Chairman Ganesh Prasad Timilsina had recommended the appointment of Pandey as the General Secretary of the federal parliament.
