New Khimti substation expected to smoothen electricity supply in Ramechhap and Dolakha districts

KATHMANDU, June 17: The New Khimti substation that has been constructed in Manthali Municipality-13, Sankhe of Ramechhap district has come into operation from Thursday.

According to Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA), the 132/33/11 kV substation will help improve electricity supply in all over Ramechhap district. Besides, it will also help in electricity distribution in Jiri Municipality, Baiteshwar Rural Municipality and Tamakoshi Rural Municipality of Dolakha district.  The substation will also supply electricity in Sunkoshi, Fikkal and Golanjor rural municipalities of Sindhuli district.

The substation has been built under the 132 kV New Khimti Transmission Line Project. It has two 30 MVA power transformers and one each of the equipment with capacity of 33/11 kV and 6/8 AVA.  

Five feeder lines of 33 kV and three feeder lines of 11 kV have been connected from the substation to supply power in the local area.

After charging a 33 kV feeder on Thursday, electricity supply has been started in Manthali and Doramba of Ramechhap and some parts of Dolakha district. According to the NEA, the electricity will be supplied to Khimti Rural Electricity Cooperative through a feeder line of 11 kV.

The electricity of the hydroelectric projects connected to the New Khimti substation had been supplied to the national transmission system through the Lamosanghu of Sindhupalchowk and Dhalkebar of Dhanusha and the excess power was exported to India through Dhalkebar-Muzaffarpur. 

The construction of 132-33 kV substation infrastructure in New Khimti was started in the fiscal year 2019/20. The government and the NEA have jointly invested Rs 800 million to build the substation.
