New govt has a load of responsibility on its shoulder: Regmi

KATHMANDU, July 30: Former Chairman of the Interim Election Council of Ministers, Khilraj Regmi has said the parties need not involve in frequent change in government if they moved ahead by holding the national interest and public welfare as supreme.

KATHMANDU, July 30: Former Chairman of the Interim Election Council of Ministers, Khilraj Regmi has said the parties need not involve in frequent change in government if they moved ahead by holding the national interest and public welfare as supreme.



Inaugurating the 20th General Assembly of the Gaon Sewa Pariwar, Birgha, Syangja here today, he said, "The responsibility on the shoulder can be fulfilled only when there is honesty in heart and understanding in mind."



The former Chairman of the Council of Ministers pointed out the need for all political parties to develop common view keeping the nation and the people at the center, adding that the new government should work more towards making the constitution acceptable.



He expressed the view that the transition has dragged on as the parties got entangled in the power politics most of the time, cautioning the parties to the increasing dependency.



Also the former Chief Justice, Regmi said the most important work of priority for the upcoming government at present was implementation of the constitution.



Minister for Industry Som Prasad Pandey said although the parties might have divergent political principles and role, they should stand as one when it comes to making the country self-reliant and safeguarding its sovereignty.



Lawmaker Kamal Pangeni and former MP Shankar Prasad Pandeya said the nation's present priority is economic prosperity and development.



President of the Pariwar, Khadga Bahadur Rana, general secretary Dr Dhan Bahadur Rana Magar, former secretary and President Shankar Prasad Pandeya, local social worker Khaga Raj Pandeya, Nepali Congress leader Saraswati Tiwari, among other speakers, spoke on the contribution of the Birgha area to the country's political and civil service.



On the occasion, Regmi also launched 'Kaligandaki', a souvenir publication of the Pariwar. RSS
