MAKAWANPUR, Feb 3: Deputy Prime Minister Kamal Thapa said that the new government will be formed within the next three weeks.

Speaking at a program organized in Hetauda, DPM Thapa said the new government could be formed within February 22 to 24.

Thapa argued that the handover of power will take some time even after completion of the upper house election as some procedures need to be completed to form the new government.  Even though the parliamentary and provincial elections were held in the first week of December, the parties emerging victorious are still denied from taking charge of the government almost two months after the polls.
The government has been accused of complicating power handover process.  DPM Thapa, who is also chairman of Rastriya Prajatantra Party, admitted the delay in handing over power to the newly elected parties but he defended the government's dillydallying saying that the constitutional complications were to be blamed.

"The government should have paved way for the formation of new government immediately after the poll result. But some constitutional provisions complicated the power handover process," said Thapa adding, "So, the government should amend the constitution to avoid such situation in the coming days."
