Khanal congratulated Wu on his appointment as China’s envoy to Nepal and expressed his belief that bilateral ties between the two countries will further strengthen during his tenure.[break]
According to a press statement issued by Khanal’s personal secretary Ram Babu Adhikari, the UML chairman also assured the Chinese envoy of Nepal’s one-China policy and appreciated China for its continual assistance for Nepal’s development endeavors.
Issuing a separate statement today, Khanal congratulated new Chinese President Xi Jinping on his election to the office by the 12th National People´s Congress and reiterated that his party and Nepal will continue to stick to one-China policy.
“ We are very proud that China has now become second largest economy of the world. We want China to continue to make further progress in the days to come,” the statement reads.
In another press statement, Khanal congratulated newly elected pope Francis for his new role as the leader of Catholic Church and expressed his hope that relations between Nepal and the Vatican will further develop during his papacy.
