New budget promotes pvt sectors: FM Koirala

KATHMANDU, June 1: Minister for Finance and Industry, Shankar Prasad Koirala, has said the coming budget would encourage the private sector for the promotion of investment-friendly environment.



Inaugurating an exhibition of goods exportable to European countries, organized by the European Economic, Trade, Commerce and Industry Association, Nepal here today, Finance Minister Koirala said the budget would focus on implementation of industrial policy.[break]



European countries´ investment and trade is essential to Nepal for the economic development, he said, adding that the investment on hydropower, tourism, commercial agriculture is always encouraged.



He further said for the holistic development of Nepal, the projects as Upper Tamakoshi, Arun III, Tanahu Hydropower and Upper Karnali needs accomplishment.



Nepal is incurring trade deficit to the European countries, which is equivalent to 3 million Euros.



Mainly, Nepal exports readymade garment to European markets while it imports costly machineries.



Readymade garments, tea, coffee, pashmina and handicraft items are put in the exhibition.



At the programme, EU representative, and association chairman said the exhibition would help promote Nepal´s trade and investment in the European market.
