KATHMANDU, May 29: Overall, the budget is very comprehensive. The option of bringing a budget just focused on dealing with the current pandemic has not been taken, and the budget assumes the return to the status quote ante prior to the pandemic in the coming fiscal year. Keeping the forthcoming elections in mind, the budget in many aspects is expansionary and caters to assisting the masses.
As in the past years, the success depends on the implementation of the budget. Also, the future course the pandemic takes will be critical for the implementation of the budget. While the use of funds is extensively articulated, the assumption is that the economy will recover quickly and tax collection in all its forms will be normalized to fund the sources to finance the budget. From the perspective of the financial sector, we look forward to a Monetary Policy that compliments the budget which will be the guiding policy for the financial sector.

I am positive toward many aspects of the budget and now this will be the guiding document for the nation’s economy regardless of the decision of the Supreme Court on the future course the nation’s politics will take. Now we need to focus on working towards implementing the budget to the best of our abilities.
