The Sensitive Index, which measures the trading of Category ´A´ companies, also edged up by 1.04 points to close at 113.43 points. [break]
Hydropower sector was the biggest gainer of the day, gaining a whopping 24.81 points in its sub-index to close at 777.76 points. The Banking sub-index gained 3.87 points to close at 440.88 points.
The sub-index of Development Bank group also increased by 2.71 points to close at 475.96 points. However, the sub-indices of Finance and Insurance groups declined by 0.81 points and 1.4 points to close the day´s trading at 398.37 points and 542.78 points respectively.
The number of shares traded decreased to 67,429 units on the day from 152,879 units recorded on Monday. Total turnover also dropped to Rs 18.6 million from Rs 46.21 million recorded a day earlier. However, market capitalization -- total worth of listed shares in the secondary market -- rose to Rs 365.2 billion from Rs 362.81 billion.
