Nepse surges 56.94 points; daily turnover rises to Rs 5.476 billion on Tuesday

KATHMANDU, June 27: Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) on Tuesday soared 56.94 points to close at 2,186.36 points.

The secondary market opened at 2,129.42 points and hit the day’s low at 2,134.69 in the first 18 minutes of the trading. The index in the next moment escalated in the remaining trading hour, finally taking the market index 2.67 percent point up.    

According to stockbrokers, the market index increased significantly mainly due to a surge in demand for the shares of microfinance companies. 

In the intraday trading, 187 listed companies gained in their market value while 34 companies were recorded as losers. The sensitive index that measures the performance of the blue chip companies also increased a notable 13.40 points.

Three out of the 13 groups including trading, non-life insurance and manufacturing and processing lost in their market values. Out of the 10 gainers, microfinance got 353.70 points, while seven others added double-digit points in their indices.  

The daily turnover amount increased to Rs 5.476 billion from Rs 5.312 billion on Monday. In recent times, the market turnover is being recorded above Rs 2 billion on a daily basis.

Among individual companies, Swabalamban Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Limited had the largest transaction of its shares worth Rs 251.23 million. Nirdhan Utthan Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Limited was the topmost gainer while Sikles Hydropower Limited lost the highest percent of its market price.
