KATHMANDU, Nov 22: Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) fell marginally by 7.13 points on Tuesday, the first trading day after the nation conducted the elections to the House of Representatives and provincial assemblies.

The secondary market opened at 1,936.83 points and reached the highest point of 1,960.98 within the first few minutes after the trading started for the day. The market failed to maintain its pace and went to a downfall in the remaining trading hours and finally closed at 1,929.70 points.

A total of 52 companies gained in their market values, while 132 companies faced losses in the intraday trading. The daily turnover amount was recorded at Rs 1.352 billion. The notable rise in transaction amount was due to the small investors rushing to sell shares after a rise of 24 points in the early hours, according to stockbrokers.

Only two groups--life insurance and banking--added values in their average market prices. The remaining 11 trading groups had a decline in their indices.

In the individual companies, Nepal Bank Limited had the largest transaction of its shares worth Rs 121.60 million. Unilever Nepal Limited lost the biggest percent while Janaki Finance Company’s shares increased by the largest percent.
