Nepse slides 40.57 points on first day of trading of this week

KATHMANDU, Feb 6: Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) dropped 40.57 points to close at 2,836.17 points on Sunday. 

With adding 96.76 points last week, the secondary market created a positive vibe in investors. However, the market witnessed a notable drop in the Nepse index on the first trading day of this week. In intraday trading, the turnover amount also declined to Rs 5.83 billion from Rs 8.61 billion on Thursday. 

All the 13 sub-groups posted red due to a decline in average prices of shares. According to stockbrokers, mostly the selling pressure on shares of hydropower companies including Api Power, Arun Valley Hydropower Development Company and Upper Tamakoshi was seen in Sunday’s trading. Nepal Hydro Developers Limited, however, was successful in adding eight percent to its share price. 

Wean Nepal Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Limited lost the largest of Rs 195.90 in its share price. The company had been witnessing a successive rise in its share price for the past few weeks. Arun Valley Hydropower Development Company had the largest turnover amount of Rs 544.99 million.
