NEPSE plunges 50.73 points; daily turnover increases to Rs 10.33 billion

KATHMANDU, Sept 15: Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) on Sunday nosedived 50.73 points to close at 2,637.79 points.

KATHMANDU, Sept 15: Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) on Sunday nosedived 50.73 points to close at 2,637.79 points.


The secondary market opened at 2,688.53 points and escalated to 2,734.58 points in the first 25 minutes. The index then went into a downward graph in the remaining hours while slipping to the day’s low at 2,632.3 points when the trading was left for just three minutes more. The market recovered around five points before it closed for the day.

The sensitive index, which measures the performance of ‘A’ class companies, shed 7.81 points. The daily turnover increased to Rs 10.33 billion from Rs 8.16 billion on Thursday.


Among individual companies, only 25 were recorded as gainers whereas 217 were the losers.


All the 13 groups were recorded as losers in the intraday trading on Sunday. Life insurance declined by 361.20 points, the largest of all. Non-life insurance, hotels and tourism, development banks, manufacturing and processing, and finance also lost three-digit points.


CEDB Hydropower Development Company Limited had the largest turnover of its shares worth Rs 643.86 million. Three Star Hydropower Limited was the topmost loser. River Falls Power Limited, Himalayan Hydropower Limited and Rawa Energy Development Limited added the highest of 10 percent to their market values.
