NEPSE plunges 17.04 points, daily turnover slips to Rs 5.47 billion

KATHMANDU, June 16: Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) on Sunday lost 17.04 points to close at 2,095.25 points.

The market opened at 2,112.29 points and escalated to the day’s high at 2,117.16 points in the first seven minutes. The index then fell steadily and hit the day’s low at 2,090.19 points in the last four minutes of trading hours. The market recovered around five points before it closed for the day.

The sensitive index that measures the performance of ‘A’ class companies declined a notable 3.25 points. The daily turnover decreased to Rs 5.47 billion from Rs 6.44 billion on Thursday.

Only hotels and tourism index added 2.30 points. Out of the 12 losers, microfinance shed the highest of 80.56 points.

Among individual companies, 64 were recorded as gainers whereas 177 were the losers.

Nepal Finance Ltd had the largest turnover of its shares worth Rs 304.05 million. The company was also the highest gainer. Bhagawati Hydropower Development Company Limited was the topmost loser.
