Nepse nosedives 38.37 points; daily turnover increases to Rs 2.687 billion on Sunday

KATHMANDU, Aug 6: Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) on Sunday plunged by a notable 38.37 points to close at 2,051.47 points.

The secondary market opened at 2,089.84 points and gained 12 points just in the first two minutes of trading. The index however went to a constant fall in the remaining trading hours and hit the day’s low at 2,042.54 points before it recovered around nine points in the last 15 minutes.  

The sensitive index that measures the performance of blue chip companies slid 7.52 points. The daily turnover however increased to Rs 2.687 billion from Rs 1.781 billion on Thursday. 

All the 13 trading groups lost their market values. Life insurance, non-life insurance and hotels and tourism fell three digit points, while the other eight groups lost double-digit points.

Among individual companies, the market values of 197 companies declined. A total of 20 companies were recorded as gainers. 

Sanima Bank Limited had the largest transaction of its shares worth Rs 126.98 million. While Progressive Finance Limited was the topmost loser, IME Life Insurance Company Limited gained the highest of 9.99 percent in its market price.
