NEPSE nosedives 30.05 points; daily turnover declines to Rs 4.044 billion

KATHMANDU, Jan 2: Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) on Tuesday plunged 30.05 points to close at 2,030.10 points.

The market that opened at 2,060.15 points initially rose to 2,061.92 points. However, the index went downhill to hit the day’s low at 2,024.14 points while it recovered around six points before the market closed for the day.

The sensitive index that measures the performance of ‘A’ class companies also declined 4.54 points. The daily turnover amount declined Rs 4.044 billion from Rs 4.483 billion on Monday. 

All the 13 groups were the losers in the intraday trading. Life insurance shed 334.61 points, the largest of all. Non-life insurance lost 313.56 points and hotels and tourism index declined 181.34 points.  

Among individual companies, 205 were recorded as losers whereas 37 companies were the gainers.

Shivam Cements Ltd carried out the largest transactions of its shares worth Rs 161.10 million. Himalayan Hydropower Limited lost the highest of 10 percent of its market value. Chirkhwa Hydropower Limited was recorded as the highest gainer.
