KATHMANDU, April 28: Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) is considering to run the secondary market from Monday to Friday every week, citing the two-day public holiday announced by the government.

The front line regulator of the country’s stock exchange market has sought to revise the trading days to allocate the equal number of days for stock transactions, according to a Nepse official. At present, Nepse has maintained five days starting from Sunday as the main trading days at the secondary market.

On Wednesday, the Cabinet decided to implement two public holidays - on Saturday and Sunday - every week, with effect from May 15. The shares transaction is largely affected on public holidays when the banks and financial institutions also remain closed.
