Nepse lost 26.49 points, investors lost Rs 36 billion last week

KATHMANDU, Oct 22: Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) last week lost 26.49 points, while average daily turnover amount was Rs 617.65 million, even lower than Rs 775.8 million of the previous week.

The market opened at 1,870.63 points on Sunday and closed at 1,844.14 points on Thursday. In four days of trading, the market index reached as high as 1,871.59 whereas it fell to as low as 1,834.41 points.

The market fell throughout the trading days of last week. On Sunday, Nepse declined by 9.69 points followed by a fall of 2.61 points on Monday. On Tuesday, the market remained closed due to the government announcing a public holiday.  On Wednesday and Thursday, the market went down 12.81 points and 1.38 points, respectively.

During the review period, there was a total turnover of shares worth Rs 2.47 billion. Market capitalization fell from Rs 2.688 trillion to Rs 2.652 trillion, which made the investors face 1.3 percent loss in market value of their stocks.
