Nepse loses 11.27 points; daily turnover slips down to Rs 1.754 billion

KATHMANDU, Nov 27: Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) on Monday declined by 11.27 points to close at 1,896.67 points.

The secondary market opened at 1,907.95 points and hit the day’s high at 1,926.41 points in the first half an hour of trading. The market then fell successively to post as low as 1,890.18 points in the 30 minutes. The market recovered around six points before it closed for the day.

The sensitive index that measures the performance of blue chip companies shed 2.12 points. The daily turnover stood at Rs 1.754 billion, down from Rs 2.011 billion on Sunday. 

Four groups including hotels and tourism, trading, investment and mutual funds were the gainers in the intraday trading. Of the nine losers, the life insurance index declined by the largest of 94.12 points.

Among individual companies, the market values of 166 companies declined whereas 65 companies posted gain in their indices.

Sonapur Minerals and Oil Limited had trading of its shares worth Rs 77.76 million and stood the highest in the segment. Upper Syange Hydropower Limited posted the biggest gain of 10 percent of its market value. Swabhimaan Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Limited lost the largest 8.04 percent of its market price.
