Nepse listed new stocks worth Rs 35.77 billion during mid-July and mid-October

BFIs and insurance companies hold 63.7 percent shares in the market capitalization

KATHMANDU, Nov 16: Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) listed new stocks worth Rs 35.77 billion in the first three months of the current fiscal year.

Of the amount registered for the listing at the Nepse included general shares worth Rs 32.03 billion, bonus shares worth Rs 2.54 billion and right shares of Rs 1.20 billion. Likewise, corporate debenture worth Rs 3.20 billion and mutual fund schemes worth Rs 2.50 billion received approval during the review period.

According to Nepse, it listed 263 companies as of mid-October this year, up from 242 a year ago. There are 134 banks and financial institutions and insurance companies listed at the country’s only stock exchange market. They secured 63.7 percent in the market capitalization.

Similarly, 87 hydropower companies were listed at the Nepse. It was followed by 20 manufacturing and processing, seven hotels, seven investment companies, four trading and four are in ‘others’ group. The hydropower companies had 12.8 percent share, investment companies had seven percent share, manufacturing and processing had 4.9 percent share, hotels had three percent share, trading had 0.5 percent share and ‘others’ had 8.1 percent share in the market capitalization.
