Nepse increases marginally by 9.24 points; daily turnover falls to Rs 1.189 billion on Wednesday

KATHMANDU, Oct 4: Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) on Wednesday inched up 9.24 points to close at 1,967.97 points.

The secondary market opened at 1,958.72 points and escalated to the day’s high at 1,976.17 points in the first 35 minutes of trading. In the next one hour, the index plunged to as low as 1,959.34 points. In the remaining time period, the market went to a series of fluctuations and recovered around eight points.

The sensitive index that measures the performance of blue chip companies increased 0.51 points. Daily turnover stood at Rs 1.189 billion, down from Rs 1.199 billion on Tuesday. 

While banking shed 0.07 points, the remaining 12 trading groups posted gains. Hotels and tourism index increased the highest of 78.95 points, followed by non-life insurance, life insurance and hydropower.

Among individual companies, the market values of 174 companies inclined, while 52 companies posted losses in their indices.

Citizen Life Insurance Company Limited with trading of its shares worth Rs 69.36 million, led in terms of shares transaction value. Madhya Bhotekoshi Jalavidyut Company Limited gained the highest of 10 percent of its market value. Similarly, Samata Gharelu Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Limited was the highest loser by shedding 6.61 percent of its market price.
