Nepse inches up 9.25 points, while daily turnover further slides to Rs 1.812 billion

KATHMANDU, Aug 2: Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) on Wednesday added 9.25 points to its index to close at 2,086.84 points.

The secondary market opened at 2,077.58 points and gained around seven points before it plunged to the day’s low at 2,062.59 points in the first one hour trading. The market however climbed to 2,083.01 points in the next moment and went to a series of fluctuations at the level straight until the last five minutes. The market graph peaked in the last few minutes, taking the overall market index to a positive growth.   

The sensitive index that measures the performance of blue chip companies also added 1.56 points. The daily turnover dropped to Rs 1.812 billion from Rs 1.924 billion on Tuesday.  

Three groups including microfinance, hydropower and trading shed their market values. Of the 10 gainers, seven added double-digit points to their market prices.

Among individual companies, the market values of 117 companies increased. A total of 81 companies were recorded as losers. 

Shivam Cements Ltd had the largest transaction of its shares worth Rs 111.903 million. While RBB Mutual Fund-1 was the topmost gainer, Prabhu Smart Fund lost the highest of 10 percent of its market price.
