Nepse inches up 4.97 points, while daily turnover amount dips to Rs 1.76 billion on Wednesday

KATHMANDU, Feb 1: Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) on Wednesday increased nominally by 4.97 points to close at 2,116.65 points.

The secondary market opened at 2,111.68 points and went to the day’s low at 2,104.77 points. In the next moment, the index inclined to as high as 2,124.3 points, before shedding around eight points to close for the day.

The daily turnover amount, however, fell notably to Rs 1.767 billion from Rs 2.824 billion on Tuesday.

A total of 110 companies gained in their market values whereas 93 companies were the losers. The sensitive index that measures the performance of blue chip companies increased by 0.54 points.

Out of the 13 trading groups, only four including investment, microfinance, mutual fund and trading, lost in their market values.  Of the gainers, the life insurance index escalated 88.78 points, the highest among all.  

Among individual companies, Nepal Bank Limited witnessed the largest transaction amount of its shares worth Rs 59.33 million. Adarsha Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha gained the highest percent of its market value, while NIBL Samriddhi Fund-2 was the biggest loser.
