NEPSE gains 13.28 points; daily turnover falls to Rs 2.017 billion

KATHMANDU, Feb 26: Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) on Monday added 13.28 points to its index to close at 1,992.30 points. 

The market opened at 1,979.02 points and rose to the day’s high at 1,997.52 points in the first half an hour of trading. In the next two hours, the market slid successively and reached the day’s low at 1,974.05 points. The market remained almost stable for the next over one hour. The index recovered around 18 points before the market closed for the day.

The sensitive index that measures the performance of ‘A’ class companies increased 2.14 points. The daily turnover fell to Rs 2.017 billion from 3.086 billion on Sunday.

Three out of the 13 trading groups were the losers. They were finance, microfinance and mutual funds. Of the gainers, manufacturing and processing recorded the highest of 151.63 points.  

Among individual companies, 167 were recorded as gainers whereas 75 were losers.

Sonapur Minerals and Oil Limited with a total transaction of its shares worth Rs 97.18 million led the segment. Bottlers Nepal (Balaju) Limited was registered as the top gainer while Samaj Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Limited lost the highest of 10 percent of its market value.
