KATHMANDU, Jan 25: Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) on Wednesday gained 10.37 points to close at 2,183.62 points.
The secondary market opened at 2,173.25 points and went to the day’s high at 2,199.87 points in the first one and a half hours of the trading period. However, the market declined by around 16 points in the remaining trading hours before the market closed for the day.
The daily turnover increased to Rs 3.466 billion from around Rs 3 billion on Tuesday.
In the intraday trading, 159 companies gained in their market value whereas 46 companies were the losers. The sensitive index that measures the performance of the blue chip companies however declined 1.30 points.
Only three groups including banking, finance and ‘others’ were the losers on Wednesday. Of the 10 gainers, life insurance added 266.16 points in its market value and topped the list.
Among the individual companies, National Hydro Power Company Limited had the largest transaction of its shares worth Rs 101.48 million. GreenLife Hydropower was the topmost loser, while RBB Mutual Fund lost the highest value in its market price.
