Nepse gains 10.23 points; daily turnover drops to Rs 1.072 billion on Sunday

KATHMANDU, Sept 10: Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) on Sunday gained 10.23 points to close at 1,942.68 points.

The secondary market opened at 1,932.45 points and gained around 10 points in the first 15 minutes. The market then declined eight points before it surged to the day’s high at 1,946.74 points, followed by a gradual decline until the last one hour of the trading period. The market recovered around seven points before it closed for the day.   

The sensitive index that measures the performance of blue chip companies also gained 2.32 points. The daily turnover stood at Rs 1.072 billion, down from Rs 1.15 billion on Thursday. 

Except for hydropower, all the remaining trading groups added to their market values. Hydropower lost 2.85 points. Among the gainers, non-life insurance added 89 points to its market value.

Among individual companies, the market values of 152 companies escalated, while 66 companies posted losses in their indices.

Himal Dolakha Hydropower Company Limited, with a turnover of Rs 85.61 million, topped in terms of the transaction volume. With a drop of 7.81 percent in its market price, the company was the biggest loser. Suryodaya Womi Laghubitta Bittiya Sansthsa Limited, which added 10 percent to its market value, was the highest gainer.
