Nepse gained 8 points while share investors received benefits of Rs 11.50 billion last week

KATHMANDU, July 23: Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) increased marginally by 8 points in the first week of the new fiscal year 2022/23.

The market opened at 2009.46 points on Sunday and went to as high as 2,065.86. It dropped to the lowest of 1,994.75 points before closing finally at 2,017.46 points later on the day.  The secondary market started on a positive note with a slight gain of 1.93 points on Sunday.

The market gained a notable 37.50 points on Tuesday's transaction. The graph, however, went almost flat on the two consecutive days. On Friday, the market dropped by 27.26 points, which was due to the investors’ dilemma over Nepal Rastra Bank’s monetary policy that was announced on the day, according to stockbrokers.

During the review period, the total turnover amount dropped to Rs 9.66 billion from Rs 9.94 billion. The market capitalization rose to Rs 2.880 trillion from Rs 2.869 trillion, giving the investors benefits of around Rs 11.50 billion in their book value of shares.

Among individual companies, Shivam Cements had the largest turnover of its shares worth Rs 843.02 million. Emerging Nepal Limited was the top gainer while Barun Hydropower Company lost the highest percent of its share price last week.
