NEPSE falls 25.63 points; daily turnover declines to Rs 7.677 billion

KATHMANDU, Jan 21: Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) on Sunday declined 25.63 points to close at 2,130.18 points.

The market opened at 2,155.82 points and reached the day’s high at 2,165.67 points in the first one and a half hours of trading. In the next moment, the market went down successively to hit the day’s low at 2,124.62 points. The market recovered only around four points before it closed for the day.   

The sensitive index that measures the performance of ‘A’ class companies decreased 7.41 points. The daily turnover amount fell to Rs 7.677 billion from Rs 8.174 billion on Thursday.

Only two groups—‘others’ and hydropower—were the gainers in the intraday trading. Of the remaining 11 trading groups, the development bank shed the largest of 110.89 points.  

Among individual companies, 177 were recorded as losers whereas 64 were the gainers.

Himalayan Reinsurance Limited with a turnover of its shares worth Rs 567.91 million topped the segment. CEDB Hydropower Development Company Limited had a drop of 8.27 percent of its market value and was recorded the highest loser. Ankhu Khola Jalvidhyut Company Ltd witnessed the biggest rise of nine percent of its market price.
