NEPSE escalates 22.75 points; daily turnover inclines to Rs 4.25 billion

KATHMANDU, April 7: Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) on Sunday jumped 22.75 points to close at 2,026.81 points.

The secondary market posted impressive growth on the first trading day this week. It went to a continuous fall in entire trading days last week.

In the intraday trading, the market opened at 2,004.05 points and went to the day’s low at 2,000.61 points in the first 40 minutes. However the market continued to escalate in the remaining trading time to secure a gain of 1.13 percent in the index.

The sensitive index that measures the performance of ‘A’ class companies gained 3.97 points. The daily turnover inclined to Rs 4.25 billion from Rs 3.03 billion on Thursday.

Two groups including hotels and tourism, and trading had their market values decline by 4.56 points and 1.11 points, respectively. Of the 11 gaining groups, life insurance added the highest of 145.25 points in its index, while development bank, manufacturing and processing, and finance gained three-digit points.  

Among individual companies, 190 were recorded as gainers whereas 48 were the losers.

Nepal Reinsurance Company Limited Promoter Share had the largest transactions of Rs 952 million. Nepal Finance Ltd topped the gainers lists, while Taragaon Regency Hotel Limited lost the highest of 10 percent of its market price.
