Nepse drops 10.1 points

KATHMANDU, June 1: Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) index suffered double-digit loss for the second day in a row as the benchmark index lost by 2.06 percent or 10.1 points to close at 479.98 points on Tuesday.



Loss in the sub-indices of most of the trading groups contributed to the fall in Nepse index on the day. The sub-indices of Banking and Hydropower groups lost by 8.62 points and 16.66 points to close at 459.94 points and 740.57 points respectively. [break]



Finance and Others groups also saw their sub-indices go down by 6.54 points and 25.85 points to close at 437.21 points and 536.95 points respectively. However, Development Bank gained 2.22 points to close at 501.16 points.



A total of 155,997 units of shares and 62 scrips worth Rs 67.78 million changed hands through 1,013 transactions on Tuesday. Total market capitalization dropped to Rs 374.89 billion from Rs 382.77 billion recorded a day earlier.
