Nepse down 5.4 points

KATHMANDU, July 25: Amid lingering political uncertainty, Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) index dropped by 1.15 percent or 5.4 percent to close at 463.94 percent on Sunday, the first trading day of the week.



The fall in the benchmark index was caused by the decline in sub-indices of groups that participated in the day´s trading. Insurance group was the bigger loser of the day with its sub-index going down by a whopping 14.47 points to end the trading at 538.02 points. [break]



Similarly, Hydropower and Banking groups said their sub-indices go down by 12.77 points and 5.76 points to close at 789.26 points and 437.48 points respectively.



Development Bank, Finance and Others groups also lost their sub-indices by 4.74 points, 3.79 points and 3.52 points respectively to close at 474.07 points, 394.89 points and 546.35 points respectively.



A total of 54,156 units of shares and 67 scrips worth Rs 19.96 million changed hands through 968 transactions. Total market capitalization -- total worth of listed shares at the secondary market -- stood at Rs 365.99 billion.
