The fall in the benchmark index was caused by the decline in sub-indices of groups that participated in the day´s trading. Insurance group was the bigger loser of the day with its sub-index going down by a whopping 14.47 points to end the trading at 538.02 points. [break]
Similarly, Hydropower and Banking groups said their sub-indices go down by 12.77 points and 5.76 points to close at 789.26 points and 437.48 points respectively.
Development Bank, Finance and Others groups also lost their sub-indices by 4.74 points, 3.79 points and 3.52 points respectively to close at 474.07 points, 394.89 points and 546.35 points respectively.
A total of 54,156 units of shares and 67 scrips worth Rs 19.96 million changed hands through 968 transactions. Total market capitalization -- total worth of listed shares at the secondary market -- stood at Rs 365.99 billion.
