The benchmark index suffered due to poor performance of most of the trading groups. The Banking and Development Bank groups saw their sub-indices go down by 2.95 points and 3.01 points to close at 437.52 points and 476.49 points respectively. [break]
Simiarly, the sub-indices of Finance, Insurance and Others groups shed 2.51 points, 3.89 points and 10.58 points to close the day at 410.92 points, 584.41 points and 519.33 points respectively.
Hydropower group was the sole gainer of the day with its sub-index gaining 0.97 points to close at 709.04. The sub-indices of Trading, Hotels and Manufacturing and Production groups, however, stayed unchanged.
A total of 40,394 shares and 59 scrips worth Rs16.88 changed hands through 737 transactions. Total market capitalization - the total value of listed shares in the secondary market - was recorded at stood Rs 360.16 billion.
