Nepse declines marginally by 3.61 points, while daily turnover dips as low as Rs 1.38 billion on Tuesday

KATHMANDU, Feb 28: Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) on Tuesday slid by a marginal 3.61 points to close at 2,019.93 points.

The secondary market opened at 2,023.54 points and jumped up 10.16 points in the first 10 minutes of the start of trading. However, the market went into a freefall to hit the day’s low at 2,013.76 points in the next few minutes. In the next moment, the market bounced back by around 20 points before going down again to close for the day. 

The market has been affected more by Monday's political development. According to stockbrokers, the share investors have now been skeptical about the market due to outgoing Finance Minister Bishnu Prasad Paudel.

In the intraday trading on Tuesday, a total of 118 companies lost in their market values, while 88 companies were gainers. The sensitive index that measures the performance of blue chip companies also fell 1.07 points.

The daily turnover amount was recorded at Rs 1.387 billion, which was even lower than Rs 1.893 billion on Monday. Four out of the 13 trading groups, including hydropower, investment, trading and mutual fund were the gainers. Of the remaining, seven lost two-digit points.

Among individual companies, Universal Power Company had the largest transaction of its shares worth Rs 75.51 million. Premier Insurance Company (Nepal) Limited was the topmost loser, while Andhikhola Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Limited was registered as the biggest gainer of the day.
