Nepse bounces back 16.24 points, daily turnover rises to Rs 1.176 billion on Tuesday

KATHMANDU, Sept 19: Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) on Tuesday increased 16.24 points to close at 1,985.43 points.

The secondary market opened at 1,969.18 points and escalated to 1,975.27 points in the first seven minutes of trading. In the next 40 minutes, the market plunged to the day’s low at 1,960.95 points. In the remaining period, the market added 25 points to close for the day.   

In the intraday trading, the sensitive index that measures the performance of blue chip companies also increased 2.43 points. The daily turnover inclined to Rs 1.176 billion from Rs 870.44 million on Monday. 

Except for trading, and hotels and tourism, which shed 28.29 points and 5.17 points, respectively, the remaining 11 groups were the gainers. Non-life insurance added 80.69 points, the biggest of all.

Among individual companies, the market values of 182 companies escalated while 36 companies posted losses in their indices.

Reliable Nepal Life Insurance Limited, with a turnover of Rs 106.44 million, topped in terms of transaction volume. With an increase of 10 percent in the market value, Shuvam Power Limited was the biggest gainer. Similarly, Emerging Nepal Limited lost 8 percent in its market value.
