Nepse adds up 14.41 points, while daily turnover slips to Rs 1.20 billion on Tuesday

KATHMANDU, March 7: Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) on Tuesday increased by 14.41 points to close at 1,952.66 points.

The market index took positive growth only after five trading days. The index had increased by a nominal value of 4.55 points on Sunday of the previous week.

The secondary market opened at 1,938.25 points and surged 25 points in the first one hour of trading. However, the market slipped 12 points before it hit the day’s high at 1,964.08 points. In the remaining period, the market went to a downward graph and lost 12 points to close for the day.

In the intraday trading, 164 listed companies gained in their market value, while only 45 companies registered losses. The sensitive index that measures the performance of blue chip companies added 1.53 points.

Despite an increase in the market index, the daily turnover amount stood at only Rs 1.20 billion, a drop from Rs 1.39 billion on Sunday. The government announced a public holiday on Monday to mark Holi, the festival of colors.

Only two groups including manufacturing and processing and mutual fund lost in their market values. Of the 11 gainers, eight added double-digit points.

Regarding individual companies, Salt Trading Corporation had the largest transaction of its shares worth Rs 120.78 million. Shuvam Power Limited was the topmost gainer, while CYC Nepal Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Limited lost the highest percent of its market value.
