Nepalis dominate chess tourney in Assam

KATHMANDU, June 4: Nepali youth continued their domination at the Lions Kamarupa-Nepal Junior Friendly Chess Tournament being held in Guwahati, Assam, India on Thursday. All Nepali players won their fifth and sixth rounds of matches. [break]



Junior Nepal champion Nikesh Duwal (rated 1758) beat Siddhanta Khemka and Barsha Chhetri, a Nepali of Indian origin, in the fifth and sixth rounds respectively. Likewise, Madan Krishna Kayastha who replaced Prajwal Raj Rajopdhya eased past Ananta Diorahah and Abhinev Pathwaree. Nabin Sunwar, who lost on Wednesday, won both the matches today. Sunwar defeated Shubham Chhager and Chiraj Jain.



Similarly, Prasant Bhasim beat Siman Tiny Hajra and Mahul Parasi; Sri Krishna Prajapati beat Mohit Jain and Anik Das; Bijay Man Thaiba beat Sneha Kajriwal and Jyotirmaya Dev Goswami; Sajin Maharjan beat Abhilas Bali and Simon Tiny Hajra and Manishwor Thapa beat Barsha Chhetri and Kishale Chakrawati.
