Nepali workers at Kulekhani III go on strike

KATHMANDU, Feb 19: Work at the the under-construction 14-MW Kulekhani III Hydroelectric Project has been affected since Tuesday as Nepali workers began a strike at the project site located at Sanutar in Makwanpur district.



They have put forward 14-point demand that includes the guarantee of minimum wages. Currently only the Chinese workers are working at the project, according to Kantipur daily. About 62 Nepali workers are with project that commenced three months ago. The project is expected to see completion in three years.
