Nepali team announced for Bangabandhu Cup

KATHMANDU, Jan 4: The All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) on Monday announced a 23-member squad for the Bangabandhu Gold Cup slated for January 8-20 in Bangladesh.

The squad comprises of three goalkeepers Amrit Chaudhary, Alan Neupane and Bikesh Kuthu; seven defenders Aditya Chaudhary, Ananta Tamang, Biraj Maharjan, Devendra Tamang, Kamal Shrestha, Man Bahadur Tamang and Rabin Shrestha; nine midfielders Anjan Bista, Bikram Lama, Bishal Rai, Heman Gurung, Jagajeet Shrestha, Jangbu Sherpa, Prakash Budhathoki, Sunil Bal and Tej Tamang; and four forwards Bimal Gharti Magar, Nawayug Shrestha, Ranjan Bista and Suman Lama. Bal Gopal Maharjan and Upendra Man Singh are coaches of the team, while Birat Jung Shahi is the team manager.Nepal, which is in Group A along with Malaysia, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka, will take on Malaysia in its opener on January 9 in Sylhet. Likewise, Nepal will take on Sri Lanka on January 12 and Bangladesh on January 14 in Dhaka.
