KATHMANDU, Dec 16: Swastika Shrestha was declared the winner of British Council IELTS Awards for 2016 on Wednesday. The British Council IELTS Award was launched in February 2015 with the objective of supporting Nepali students trying intending to study in English speaking country.

Swastika received an award of Rs 5,00,000 for her tuition fees. “I am proud of my daughter and thank the British Council Nepal for encouraging young generations with this award,” said Bal Krishna Shrestha, Swastika’s father.

“I am very happy to receive the award,” said Swastika, who is currently studying in Germany.

“We are delighted to support Swastika’s future academic study through this significant award. We have been in Nepal for more than sixty years and delivering IELTS for more than twenty five years. As an organization with a cultural mission, we are very proud of our role in helping Nepali people to achieve their study and migration goals through access to international examinations,” said Jim O’Neill, country exams manager at British Council Nepal.
