“Rai , who was taking a nap after lunch at 11 AM Wednesday, suddenly suffered from a respiratory problem at 12:30 PM. He was, then, rushed to a hospital nearby where he breathed his last while undergoing treatment,” said his coworker Rajendra Hamal. [break]
The cause behind his death is yet to be established, said labor attaché at the Nepali Embassy in Seoul, Anil Gurung.
Four Nepalis including Rai had been working at a beads manufacturing company under the Employment Permit System (EPS) sine three months. The company runs both day and night shifts, it is learnt.
Rai is survived by his wife and a 15-month-old daughter.
With Rai’s death, the number of deaths of Nepali migrant workers in South Korea has climbed to 54 since the establishment of Nepali embassy, according to the record of Nepali Embassy in Seoul.
