KATHMANDU, March 7: The Nepali Congress (NC) parliamentary party (PP) meeting concluded with a resolution blaming Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal for betraying the coalition.

NC Chief Whip Ramesh Lekhak held PM Dahal responsible for the coalition’s breakdown.

According to him, in the past NC had formed alliances incorporating various parties for the protection of the constitution and consolidation of the democratic system, and participated in the elections accordingly.

“The Prime Minister betrayed us and deviated from the issues that had been agreed upon, leading the coalition astray. We condemn this as a form of political dishonesty,” said Lekhak.

He further mentioned that the NC parliamentary party has resolved to withdraw support to the PM.

NC had initially decided to support CPN (Maoist Center) Chairman Dahal’s government on December 31, 2022.

Additionally, the Central Working Committee meeting held in Budhanilkantha had also decided to withdraw support to the Prime Minister.

On Monday, Prime Minister Dahal terminated cooperation with NC, forging a new coalition with the then main opposition party, CPN-UML.

Dahal reshuffled the Cabinet and appointed new ministers on Tuesday and Wednesday, bringing the total number of ministers to 20.
