Nepalgunj Sub-metropolis employee dies of coronavirus

NEPALGUNJ, Sept 7: The COVID-19 death toll in Banke district has risen to seven after a 59-year-old man succumbed to the viral infection on Sunday evening, officials said. 

The deceased has been identified as Yuba Raj Ghale from Nepalgunj Sub-metropolitan City-9. He was an employee of Nepalgunj Sub-metropolitan City Office. The deceased underwent a PCR test for COVID-19 on August 31 after he experienced coronavirus-like symptoms. He tested positive for the virus the next day. Since then, he had been undergoing treatment at an isolation facility at New Indreni Hotel. After his health worsened, he was rushed to Nepalgunj Medical College, Kohalpur, on September 3.

"The patient died at 8:30PM in the course of treatment on Sunday," Naresh Shrestha, the COVID-19 focal person at the hospital, told Republica. Ghale was a long time employee of the Sub-metropolitan City Office.

Ghale was also suffering from diabetes and heart disease for the past few years. After the death of the Sub-metropolis Office employee, the number of people dying of COVID-19 in Banke has risen to seven, according to the District Health Office.
