BANKE, Feb 2: A cycle tour from Nepalgunj to Thakurdwara of Bardiya is being organized to promote tourism in Banke and Bardiya districts.

According to Chairperson of Nepalgunj Cycling Club Pradeep Sapkota, they are expecting the participation of around 300 cyclists in the cycle tour. The 'Tour De Thakurdwara' and ‘Nepalgunj Kids Race' will be organized under the three-day Nepalgunj Cycle Festival from February 8. 

All necessary preparations for the route for the cycle tour have already been made and local cyclists along with inter-province cyclists and international cyclists are participating in the cycle tour, he added. 

Former Chairperson of the Club, Satish Niraula said, "Our main objective is to carry out activities linking cycling with our culture and tourism. This programme will help to exert pressure for safe cycling in the area and expansion of cycle lanes in the city."

The main motto of the 'Tour De Thakurdwara' cycle tour is to protect tourism and culture in an environmentally friendly manner. 

According to Surendradwip Karki, vice-chairperson of the club,  the 100-kilometer tour will start from Bageshwori Temple of Nepalgunj. The tour will conclude at Thakurdwara of Bardiya National Park after cycling past various places of Banke and Bardiya districts.
